Sites that want to avoid getting downgraded will also have to diversify their link portfolio (as using the same links and keywords for multiple submissions could raise red flags with Penguin) and think about submitting higher quality content to relevant directories less frequently (instead of relying on automated tools) if they want to avoid Penguin’s scrutiny.

Although changes in web directory guidelines and algorithms are nothing new (Google seems to push them once or twice a year, not to mention updating them even more frequently to work out the kinks), they can still come as a bit of a shock to SEO specialists and web managers that get used to doing things a certain way. But the point of these measures is to ensure that the websites that offer the best quality content to users are actually at the top of the heap. It might take you a while to get the hang of blogging. Just remember that you can do just about anything as long as you have the right amount of motivation. So, invest in becoming a better blogger and expect results in the form of new customers and increased online visibility.
