How many blogs have you come across that are run by major wannabes? Each time you find one of these sites you have an opportunity to gain a back link to your own, and the method is incredibly simple.
It doesn’t matter if you have a blog that already gets tons of traffic or a new site that has never even seen a single visitor. This technique can go to work for you today and start generating results tomorrow.
Finding B-List Celebrity Bloggers
You’re looking for blogs that have little or no actual participation from readers. The fewer comments the better. You can even use brand new blogs for this method. So how do you find them?
Hop on Google and perform a search for anything you want. Your best bet is to search for over-used link bait motifs, such as “Eleven Essential Tips for Niche.” Once you do that, hop over to the blogs section.
You’ll find plenty of blogs that were updated recently. Why, though, would you want to use these rehashed motifs when searching for blogs? That’s easy – they show desperation for traffic and readers. Anyone creating these sorts of posts hasn’t yet figured out what it really takes to build a successful blog, and when you go fishing for “interviews” they’ll be the first to bite.
Getting in Touch
Use the following template to generate a query letter that explains to this blogger exactly what you’re planning on doing and how it will benefit them:
“Dear Blogger, I run a moderately popular site on this niche topic. I’m looking to provide some new, valuable content on my blog, and I have decided to do a weekly interview series. I would love to interview you on this niche topic and post it in my site. Would you be interested? It could lead to lots of new visitors for your site.”
Notice how there is no mention of how many readers you already have, or how many visitors you expect to send to their site. It doesn’t really matter. They’re probably too green to really care, anyway. The fact that you have picked them out of the sea of mediocre bloggers and asked them for an interview is going to blow their ego up to the point where they lose all logic and reason.
You can be sure that they’ll be telling their mom all about it at the dinner table.
Performing the Interview
You really don’t want to even bother with an actual interview. So put together a list of twenty to thirty stock questions. Ask them to answer any ten they wish. Include a note about how you would greatly appreciate a link to your site, since you’re helping to send them some new traffic, too. Tell them that you don’t really need them to do it, but that it would mean so much to you to gain a little extra exposure from their new site.
Once they reply, format their answers for your blog and post them up. Here’s the trick – you don’t actually want to provide a link directly to their site. That will look too much like reciprocated links to Google and could completely devalue the link they sent to you. Instead, share a link to a list of search results based on their domain. You’ll honor your agreement and avoid getting slapped by Google.
Is it moderately unethical and misleading? Yes. Is it powerful and effective when it comes to gaining easy back links? Oh my god, yes!
