If you and your friends/family drive by something eye catching (a barn fire, two cows in a field mating), you can guarantee that one person will point it out, so that everybody can share in the moment. Passing along viral content may be motivated by the same need to share, and the same need to be the one everybody thanks for sharing it.

Funny pictures are the most commonly shared content on the Internet. So ask yourself, if we all see hundreds of funny images online all the time, why do people still send them to each other?
